When you’re trying to sell a fitness product or service there’s a whole laundry list of things that need to be in place for your product to sell…
- Have a good offer
- Sell the benefits of your product/service
- Offer a guarantee (100% money back or more)
- Feature testimonials
- Write a good headline and promise a benefit in the headline
I could go on and on with this because there’s a bunch of stuff that goes into selling a product, BUT the number one thing you must have to sell a fitness product is before and after pictures…
I touched on this before a bit with my social proof post, but I think its so important that we should expand on it.
Why do before and after pictures work?
When it comes to selling a fitness product, people are going to be VERY skeptical at first. This is because 95% of people have never seen results when working out, so they immediately think “oh heres another SCAM weight loss product”
But you can reverse this belief by building trust, creating a connection and then displaying massive amounts of before and after pictures. The more pictures you have, the better.
Before and after pics should be featured towards the top of your sales page so people will get hooked by the pictures and keep reading.
What are the best before and after pictures?
I think the best before and afters are taken in the same location. If you take a client’s “before” picture in your gym against a certain wall make sure you take their “after” picture against the same wall.
Here’s a good example…

You should also always add a big headline above or below each picture such as…
- Sean lost 16 lbs in just five weeks!
- Jenna dropped 3 sizes and lost 4 inches from her waist in eight weeks!
- Jeff Beal of Columbus put on 12 lbs of muscle in just ten weeks
Here’s some final tips for before and after pictures
- Get guys with their shirt off and women in sports bras if possible
- Have them keep a straight face in the before picture
- Make sure in the after picture they are smiling with their shoulders back and standing tall. Getting them to flex as well isnt a bad idea
For those of you who have used before and afters, what are some of the strategies you have used to make them the most effective?

I would add… make sure that we can clearly see the face of the person in both pictures. A lot of times the person reading the post will assume its not the same person. Make sure the face is clearly visible so that this doesn’t cross their mind. This is especially true for extreme gains. This make lighting very important!
Great post yet again.
Good advice. I should have taken better photos for my site. I need to go back and resize them. Nice site.
