The current state of the poker affiliate industry

by justin on August 18, 2007

With the UIGEA looming and many people speculating that it could be pushed back 2-3 months, I thought a state of the poker affiliate industry post was in order.

  • CAC Montreal is less than 2 weeks away. If you register before August 21st, you will receive $100 off of your CAC pass. If you are decent producing affiliate, I suggest you contact your affiliate managers and ask for a free pass. Most of them will gladly pay for your pass if you are sending them players every month. On another note, I will not be speaking at the conference anymore. I had planned on doing a cool presentation on bootstrapping, and giving a step by step plan for smaller affiliates to make a solid monthly income, but after working out the details of the money I would spend on the trip and the amount of attendees expected (200-300) it was not worth my time. Hopefully I can make it to the CAP Barcelona conference and catch up with everyone again.
  • Jeremy Enke, who runs PokerAffiliateWorld.com has started his own blog. There are about 3-4 posts right now and he’s saying it will be 50/50 with business and personal life stuff. If he digs into some behind the scenes affiliate stuff, it will be a great blog for the industry. I also just noticed Kyle Healey has a blog about SEO/search marketing. I met Kyle at the CAC in Vegas last summer, and he’s definitely a smart guy.
  • AffiliateSpeedpay.com is a new service started by the founders of CAP. This will be a way for affiliate programs(not just gambling programs) to pay money to affiliates in a quick and safe manner. AffiateSpeedPay will work like an actual bank account, and is licensed by the government. From the messages in their forum, it appears they should be launching in the next 2-3 weeks. They have 7 affiliate programs that have already applied to be merchants. if you’re a poker/casino affiliate program, why haven’t you applied to be part of this yet?
  • ChanPoker.com has launched their new affiliate program. Brandon Berndt, who is a well known guy in the poker affiliate industry is heading the program. He’s always available to talk to on Skype and AIM, so I predict he will do a great job helping affiliates get what they need.
  • Cap Euro has announced that Doyle Brunson himself will be attending the Barcelona convention in October. I haven’t booked my flight/hotel yet, but am definitely considering taking a trip out there for a few days.
  • Absolute Poker seems to still be having problems with their stats updating on time. I just checked mine through the PAW network, and noticed they updated them for July. It seems like a nice bonus for me now, but I really wish they could just update them every day like other affiliate programs. It makes Chipleader look a bit suspicious when multiple affiliates are having problems and finding errors month after month.
  • My blog has a new design inspired from my favorite book Fight Club. Lyndsey did the photoshoot for me and it turned out really well. I keep telling her she needs to learn some web design and start freelancing for all the affiliates out there who need sites. Lots o’ money to be made in web design…. I just played around in Photoshop to make the rest of the header and I think it turned out pretty solid.

I need to get back to getting some rest. I just got my tonsils out yesterday, so I’ll be on the injured reserve for a few days. Feel free to leave some comments…

I’ll be heading out to CAP EURO this year. I’ve been hanging around learning the affiliate world for the last few months, so it will be good to finally meet some of the people in the industry.
