There’s one secret to really good copy that hardly anyone ever talks about.

It’s a secret that has the power to suck your readers in…

And make sure their eyes are glued to your VSL.

(Even if they have better stuff to do with their time)

In fact, I experienced this secret firsthand when I was watching the Ohio State/Clemson game last night.

Let me explain…

If you were sitting in my living room with me last night, you would have seen a very different side of Justin than you normally see.

You would have seen me filled with passion…

Anger…

Joy…

Heartbreak…

And more.

Everytime Ohio State scored, I was jumping up and down…

Running around my living room…

And high-fiving my dog.

But…

Everytime they made a bone-headed mistake…

Or a call didn’t go our way…

I was screaming at the top of my lungs.

And throwing the remote half-way across the room.

It was a nonstop up-and-down experience…

One that left me on pins and needles for nearly 4 hours.

Now you’re probably wondering what the hell my college football woes have to do with copywriting…

Well the answer is…

Everything.

Because during that game, I was on a roller coaster filled with emotional tension.

One minute I was full of joy…

And the next, I was seething and ready to break everything in eyesight.

There was never a second for me to breathe.

That is what we call “emotional tension”.

And emotional tension is one of those little talked about secrets for writing winning copy.

If you’re not familiar with emotional tension, men tend to experience it when watching sporting events.

Women will experience it watching something like a romantic comedy or even The Bachelor.

Either way, the experience is the same.

You’re emotions are constantly being tugged in different directions.

One minute you’re sad…

The next you’re angry…

And throughout it you’re hopeful…

The whole time, you can just feel the tension in your body.

So you’re on the edge of your seat…

Dying to see what happens next.

This is what emotional tension does…

And if you’re able to use it in your copy (usually in your big story) it has the power to suck your reader in so they have no choice but to pay attention.

It’s incredibly powerful.

And when done right…

It can turn a ho-hum piece of copy into a winner that pulls in thousands of sales a day.

Now there’s a lot of copywriters out there who are good at this.

Clayton Makepeace comes to mind…

So does my partner Stefan Georgi…

But in my mind,  there’s really no one better at this than the bald-headed assasin, Mr. Chris Haddad.

If you don’t know Chris, he dominates the women’s relationship niche.

And the stories he tells in his VSL are legendary in copywriting circles.

These stories (and the emotional tension in them) are the reason he has a new offer bringing in 600+ sales a day on cold traffic.

The guy knows how to use emotional tension like no other to make sales.

And it’s one of the main reasons Stefan and I invited Chris to speak at our next Copy Accelerator mastermind in February.

Chris is gonna be on stage sharing his secrets for writing what he calls a “punch-em-in-the-gut” story.

I.E. a story that hits you so hard emotionally, that you can’t turn away.

He’s made millions in his copywriting career doing this for his own offers…

And for clients…

And he’s going to spill all the beans on how he does it at our mastermind in February.

To be clear, this is the LIVE mastermind for our Copy Accelerator group.

Which is a $30k mastermind.

However, we’re going to be offering a few “sit-in” seats for the event.

So that non-members can come.

I’ll have more details about that tomorrow (we’re putting the final touches on the event page right now).

But if you’re interested in snagging one of the sit-in seats at our upcoming mastermind, then keep your eyes peeled for my email tomorrow.

It all goes down Feb 26th-28th in Las Vegas.

And just like our last event in Austin, it will be loaded with the top marketers from companies like VShred, Agora Financial, Natural Health Sherpa, Credit Secrets, 4Patriots and more…

But like I said…

More info to come on that tomorrow.

Just keep your eyes peeled for that email from me if you’re interested in snagging a seat for yourself (or for someone from your team).

Enjoy your Sunday.
