Back in 2020, I gave a talk at my buddy Jason Capital’s event on the fastest way to make $10k a month as a copywriter…
And the talk I gave was NOT theory…
It wasn’t what I “thought” would work…
It was real, in-the-trenches tactics that I used to help at least fifty copywriters to go from 0 -> $10k a month.
And today I want to give you a little summary of what I said on stage that day.
Cause if you’re a newer copywriter…
Or if you have a regular job and you want to make copywriting your full-time thing…
Then I think this “blueprint” is what you need.
Alright, let’s get started.
1. You need to write every single day
This is the most important part.
You need to write everyday.
That could be for an hour…
It could be for two hours…
The important thing is that you’re writing every day.
Most newbies make the mistake of spending the majority of their time going through courses and studying sales letters.
Which is not a bad idea by any means.
You can learn a LOT from good courses.
However…
If you don’t actually practice what you learn from those courses, you won’t get any better.
My buddy Joe who’s a dating coach tells me this is the biggest problem with the guys he coaches as well.
Guys will spend hours and hours each week reading books and watching Youtube videos on how to meet women…
However, most of them don’t actually talk to any women.
Well you can read all the books you want on the best way to talk to women, but if you don’t actually talk to any women, you’re gonna be sitting on your couch by yourself.
And the same thing goes for copywriting…
You have to actively be writing.
And if you want to get good quickly (so that you can make $10k a month) then you should be writing every single day.
So that’s the first part of the equation…
Now, the second part is just as important…
And that’s the fact that you need to…
2. Get feedback on your writing
I never got feedback on my writing early-on in my copywriting career, and it was a huge mistake.
Why?
Because I ingrained some bad writing habits.
For example…
When I started mentoring under David Deutsch, one of the things DD had to constantly berate me about was leading with my “best stuff”.
I had a tendency to take the most interesting things in my copy and put ’em on page 3.
Which is dumb, dumb, dumb.
You never want to bury your best stuff…
You always want to lead with it.
Another example…
Before I worked with David, a lot of my copy sounded like I was standing at a pulpit and talking to an audience.
So when you read it, it didn’t feel very personal.
It didn’t feel like me and you were in a bar together talking like normal human beings.
It felt like I was orrating to a crowd.
And that really hurt my copy.
It’s one of the reasons why my sales pages were always hit and miss back then.
But once I started getting feedback from David…
I was able to fix both of these things.
And my copy got much better.
So much better in fact, that I started writing winning sales letters that were bringing in 500 or even 1000 buyers a day.
And as a result of that, my income went through the roof.
So there ya go…
That’s the entire $10k blueprint I shared at Jason Capital’s event that day.
One thing I’ll caution you…
Do NOT let the simplicity of this blueprint deter you from following it.
Yes, it is simple…
Yes there’s no “magic bullet” in it…
But it works…
And if you stick to it…
You’ll soon be making $2k a month…
Then you’ll jump to $5k a month…
And eventually you’ll be at $10k a month.
I’ve seen this happen over and over again for copywriters like Tanner Henkel, Alec Rosa, Krista Edsall, Kate Vidiluch, Jazz Courtney, Michael Rochin, Heidi Anspaugh and many, many more.
So my advice?
Simply follow the blueprint.
Write everyday…
And get feedback on your writing…
That’s the key.
