Every Sunday morning I like to write about 3 random things on my mind.

Sometimes these are business things…

Sometimes they’re life lessons…

And other times they’re completely random.

With that said…

Let’s jump into the 3 things on my mind this Sunday morning.

1.  My emails have felt “off” this past week.

The ideas aren’t flowing like usual.

And talking about copy and marketing just isn’t that appealing to me right now.

I feel like this happens to me every few months.

I hit a little rut with my daily emails, and then something happens and I get re-energized.

Could be the hangover from our event still affecting me.

Who knows.

But if you’re struggling at all with your writing, just know that this is common.

We all go through ups and downs with it.

It’s part of the process.

2.   I mentioned in a previous email that one of the best things I’ve spent money on is an assistant to help around my house.

I hired Heather last year from Craigslist for this gig.

She comes to my house every morning for about 2-3 hours (Monday through Friday)

And her normal day includes cleaning dishes, cleaning the kitchen, running packages to the post office, tidying up my room, running errands for me etc…

It’s like a part housekeeper/part assistant role.

Honestly I don’t think I could do without it now.

Having her around has allowed me to stay focused on my business…

And to not get bogged down with miniscule stuff.

I know this kind of thing is not affordable to everyone…

But if you have the money to do it, I’d highly recommend it

(BTW I pay her $20 an hour for about 18 hours a week of work if you’re wondering)

3.  I’ve been thinking more and more about emotions lately and how important they are with copy.

And I don’t mean just hitting on emotional stuff in your copy…

It goes further than that.

Cause you really need to be in touch with your own emotions if you’re going to write good emotional copy.

This was one of my achilles heels for years.

Cause I was completely cut-off from my emotions.

And as a result, my copy was super flat.

I didn’t know what shame felt like…

Or fear…

I could write about them…

But I was just kind of imagining what they felt like since I didn’t really know.

And since I’ve learned to get more in touch with my emotions, my copy has dramatically improved in this area.

My stories hit harder…

People feel things on a deeper level…

And this all stemmed from me actually getting more in touch with my own emotions.

Every copywriter will tell you that emotion is the key to good copy.

But if you’re not in touch with your own emotions, your ability to write emotional copy will be hamstrung.

So there ya go…

The 3 random things on my mind this Sunday morning.

It looks like it’s gonna be a nice day here in Austin, so I’m gonna head out for a walk.

Enjoy your Sunday,
