On Sundays I like to write about 3 random things that are on my mind.

Sometimes these things are about business…

Sometimes they’re about life…

And other times they’re just truly random.

So with that said…

Let’s jump into the first thing on my mind this Sunday morning…

1. Everything in life has trade offs

Earlier this week a buddy of mine mentioned that he was gung-ho on buying a house cause “it’s so much better than renting”….

Having both rented and owned a house myself…

I just kind of laughed at that.

Sure there’s good things about owning a home like….

Building equity…

Not getting kicked out by your landlord..

Or customizing the house to your liking…

But there’s also tradeoffs…

When something goes wrong (leaky roof or your HVAC stops working) you have to fix it…

You have to pay property taxes…

You have to put a good chunk of money down to even get the house.

You’ll spend more money on things like furniture, art, and decorations cause it’s your own home…

You’re also responsible for things like yard work and paying utilities…

So yes there are benefits to owning a house…

But there’s also tradeoffs.

And in my experience, everything has tradeoffs…

There’s tradeoffs to owning a business vs. being a freelance copywriter…

There’s tradeoffs to being single vs being married…

There’s tradeoffs to living in Austin vs. living in Columbus…

There are tradeoffs to everything.

So nothing is perfect.

It’s really a question of  “are the tradeoffs worth it for me?”

That’s what matters.

Alright let’s hop to the second thought on my mind this morning…

2.  I believe that ignoring AI is going to be a long term mistake

I’ve been thinking a lot about AI…

And the more I think about it, the more I believe it’s truly going to change everything in the world.

Copywriting has already changed…

Movies will change (both with actors and visuals)…

Being a lawyer will change…

Being a doctor will change…

How cars operate will change…

How work is done will change…

How we interact with people will change…

AI is gonna affect everything in our life.

And if you think you can just ignore it…

That to me feels like ignoring the internet back in 1996.

Anyone who ignored the internet (and who still ignores it) is probably not doing too great.

And I think the same will happen with AI.

So I think it’s smart to not ignore it…

And instead embrace the change it’s creating.

Alright, lets hop to the third thing on my mind this morning…

3.  The thing you’re making a priority in your life is the thing you’ll get the best results with

When I was a kid my main focus in life was playing golf.

So I spent hours each day hitting balls at the driving range…

And another hour on the putting green…

And as a result of that…

I was a scratch golfer by the time I was 15.

So by making golf a priority…

I became a good golfer.

However…

There were plenty of other things that I didn’t focus on when I was younger…

Like working out…

Or dating…

And as a result of that…

I struggled in those areas.

For example…

When I was in highschool, I was 105 lbs soaking wet…

And when it came to talking to girls, I didn’t have the first clue what to say…

So because I didn’t make those things a priority…

I didn’t get good results with them.

And that’s a good lesson to learn.

Whatever you make a priority…

Is where you’ll get your best results…

And this is true whether we’re talking about…

Copywriting…

Your marriage…

Or how good of a parent you are…

When something is a priority for you…

That’s when you see results.

So my advice?

If something is important to you…

Make sure it’s a priority for you.

Don’t ignore it and hope it will get better.

If you want results…

You gotta make it a priority in your life.

Make sense?

I hope so.

Cause that’s all I got for ya today.

Hope you got a nugget or two out of this.

Enjoy your Sunday,
