Every Sunday I like to write about 3 random things that are on my mind.

Sometimes these things are about business…

Sometimes they’re about life…

And other times they’re just truly random things that are on my mind.

So with that said…

Let’s dig into the first thing on my mind this morning…

1.  Sometimes paying more money for things will put you around better quality people

I’ve been in Las Vegas for the last two weeks, so I joined a gym out here for my workouts and daily saunas.

One thing I’ve noticed is that the quality of people in the sauna at this gym is a lot different than the sauna I go to in Austin.

Basically the one in Austin costs a lot more money…

So it attracts a higher quality person.  You get a lot of tech guys, entrepreneurs, creative types etc.

And anytime there’s conversations going on in the sauna, it’s interesting stuff they’re talking about.

Now, contrast that to the gym I’m going to in Vegas…

This gym in Vegas is only $10 a month…

So there’s a low barrier to entry.

And as a result, the type of people that they attract is quite different.

A good example would be yesterday in the sauna…

The guy next to me was watching Facebook videos on his phone with the sound fully on (no headphones in) and didn’t think this was an issue.

Another guy a few feet over was blasting Limp Bizkit (seriously) through his headphones which could still be heard by everyone in the sauna.

This would never happen at the place I go in Austin.

The people there are just generally functioning on a higher level.

And you’ll see this in all types of situations…

When you pay more for something, you get put in a higher class of people.

Look at the people who shop at Walmart vs. Whole Foods…

Look at the people that attend a free marketing event vs. one that’s $2000.

The price points attract different kinds of people.

So if you want to be in the room with higher level people, a simple way to do this is to spend more.

Alright lets hop to the second thought on my mind this morning…

2.  Simplicity is the name of the game with investing

Recently I sold all of my crypto (to realize the losses I had) and when I bought back in I decided to simplify things…

Instead of holding a bunch of coins, I just simplified it to 90% Bitcoin and Ethereum.

I settled on this for a simple reason…

I think both of these coins will win long term.

And if I believe Bitcoin will hit $500k-$1 mil per coin someday, why would I waste time with other coins?

I’m in this for the long haul…

I’m not looking for a quick buck.

And if Bitcoin 3x’s, 4x’s or 50x’s over the next ten years, I win.

So I’m just gonna hold those coins…

And keep things simple from now on.

I can tell ya from experience that simplicity is a key tenant of being a successful investor.

The more complicated things become…

And the more there is to understand…

The greater the chance you’ll screw things up.

So when it comes to investing, keep it simple.

I know that’s not sexy…

Or exciting…

But it works.

And that’s what matters.

Alright let’s do one more of these…

3.  My routines have a tendency to go out the window when I travel

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that if I need to be super productive, then I need to be at home.

Why?

Cause that’s when I’m in my routine.

I have everything setup how I want…

I wake up at the same time each day…

So everything is good when I’m at home.

However…

When I travel, that all changes.

My normal routine of writing, going to the gym, hitting the sauna and meal prepping gets a lot more difficult.

Cause there’s other things going on…

Things that distract me…

Or things that keep me out late…

So for me, I’m not as productive.

Which is not the end of the world…

But it’s something that’s important for you to be aware of.

What environment are you best in?

Is it in an office with the door closed?

Is it at a coffee shop?

There’s no right answer…

But there’s probably a right answer for you.

And that’s worth figuring out.

Make sense?

I hope so.

Cause that’s all I got for ya today.

Hope you got a nugget or two from this…

Enjoy your Sunday,
