Every Sunday morning I like to write about 3 random things that are on my mind.

Sometimes these things are about business…

Sometimes they’re about life…

And other times they’re completely random.

So with that said…

Let’s hop to the first thing on my mind this Sunday morning…

1.  Comittment and consistency are the hardest things in the world, but it’s what produces results

Here’s a few things I’ve tried to be consistent about lately…

– Walking 8000+ steps a day

– Working out 3 days a week

– Writing every single day

– Volunteering at the dog shelter 4 days a week

– Meditating every morning and every night (even if its just for a couple minutes)

– Hitting the sauna 3 days a week

Now none of these things are particularly hard…

So it’s not the actual task that’s tough…

It’s being consistent that’s tough.

And that’s a very valuable lesson.

Cause consistency is probably the most boring thing in the world…

But it’s what produces results…

If you write day after day…

Or you workout week after week…

It adds up.

And you start to see the results you want.

So simply put, consistency trumps all.

Alright let’s hop to the next thing on my mind this morning…

2.  If you have kids, or a family, please don’t take time management advice from me

One of the main questions I get from copywriters and business owners is about how I structure my day…

People are always curious…

But I hesitate to share how I do things.

Why?

Cause my living situation is probably very different than yours.

I don’t have kids running around…

I don’t have a spouse…

Hell, I don’t even have a dog right now.

It’s just me.

So I don’t have to worry about anyone else besides myself.

Which is a very different setup than what most people have.

If you have multiple kids, a spouse, and pets running around, you got a hell of a lot more on your plate to deal with than I do.

And I’m not dumb enough to believe that my schedule would work for you…

So while I give broad advice on things like “getting your most important tasks done in the morning”…

I don’t go much further than that.

Cause what works for me, probably won’t work for you.

So you’d be wise to look elsewhere for time management advice…

Alright let’s hop to the third thing on my mind this morning…

3. New data is showing that relationships that start online have a much higher break-up rate in the first year than other methods of meeting

Rob Henderson posted this data on Twitter the other day and I found it interesting…

So basically if you meet someone online, you have a 3.5x higher break-up rate than if you met in school…

You have a 2.5x higher break-up rate than if you met at a bar…

And a 16x higher break-up rate than if you met in church…

Obviously there are a lot of other factors at play here…

But overall, the online experience seems to be creating much thinner connections with dating.

Which is not that surprising…

So much of human connection is felt in person.

It’s a feeling you get…

It’s common interests…

It’s shared values…

These things all happen in person.

And they’re a lot harder to filter for online.

Also, with everyone being online now, the “endless options” thing is very real.

Even people who are in relationships are constantly wondering if the grass is greener with someone else.

So that’s a big change from how things used to be.

Anyways…

I thought the data on this was really interesting…

And it’s a good snapshot of how dramatically fundamental things like relationships are changing just in the past 10-15 years…

I find it fascinating…

And a bit worrisome for our future.

But it is what it is.

Alright I need to wrap this up for the day.

Hope you got a nugget or two from this.

Enjoy your Sunday…
