Every Sunday morning I like to write about 3 things that are on my mind…
Sometimes these things are about business…
Sometimes they’re about life…
And other times they’re just truly random.
Well this week I’m in the middle of a launch…
And since I’ve been talking about email all week…
Today’s 3 thoughts are gonna be all about making dough with email.
Let’s dig in.
1. If the email gods suddenly made email disappear, most direct response and ecomm businesses would fall apart
Email is the lifeblood of an online biz.
And if it went away, most businesses (including mine) would fall apart.
In my opinion that just shows you how important email is.
Cause the same thing would NOT happen if Facebook went away…
Or if Youtube disappeared…
If those two vanished, many businesses would take a temporary hit…
But it wouldn’t be the end of the world.
But if email went away, you’d see some “end of days” type shit happening in every marketing circle.
Now I’m not saying this to scare you…
Cause I personally think email will be around for a long, long time…
But I say this moreso to show you why I believe email is still king of the jungle.
Nothing competes with it in terms of making sales.
So if you’re not utilizing it…
And making a bunch of sales from it…
You’re missing out.
Alright let’s hop to the second thought on my mind this morning…
2. If you’re interested in playing the “long game” and you want to guarantee yourself a long and profitable career, then email is your ticket
In the IM world, there tends to be two different people that I see.
There’s short term thinkers who only care about making money TODAY.
And then there’s “long game” players who not only think about “money today” but also “future money”.
I’m a “long game” player myself.
It’s why I’ve had people on my list buy stuff from me in 2018 (when I started my list) and they’re still buying stuff from me in 2023.
That’s long game thinking.
I’m not just thinking about how I can make a buck today.
I’m thinking about how I can get people to keep reading my emails (and keep buying from me) five years from now.
For me this provides stability…
And long term security…
And those are two things I really value.
Maybe that appeals to you…
And if it does…
I’d urge you to start being a “long game” player.
Money today is important…
But money today, and money in the future is even better.
Alright let’s hop to the 3rd thought on my mind this morning…
3. You can easily figure out “where the money is” by watching what the most successful people in your niche are doing
If you look at all the top people in our industry…
The Joel Marion’s…
The Mike Geary’s…
The Agora companies…
They’re all focused on one thing.
And that’s…
Adding new people to their email list.
Their email list is where they make their hay.
So putting new people on their list is always their top priority.
Perry Belcher makes it his priority in the gun niche…
Brixton Albert does it in the golf niche…
I do it in the copy & marketing niche…
List building comes above everything else.
And like I said…
If everyone that’s successful is focused on building their list.
There’s a reason for it.
So you should take that as a sign.
A sign that you should be putting more of your focus on list building.
Cause in my opinion, that’s where the growth is.
