Every Sunday I like to share with you three random things that are on my mind.

Sometimes these things are about business…

Sometimes they’re about life…

And other times they’re just completely random.

So with that said…

Let’s hop into the first thing on my mind this morning…

1. I’m going on week 3 of my Instagram detox, and seeing a noticeable difference in how I feel

A few weeks ago I decided to limit my Instagram use to 5 minutes a day.

That 5 minutes a day eventually turned into me not using Instagram on most days.

As of now, I’m not using Instagram to watch anyone’s stories or scroll through the feed (I still post my own pictures/stories once in a while though).

And as a result, I feel more present.

I’m not so bogged down with what’s going on in everyone else’s life.

One interesting thing that happened last week is that I did watch some stories on Instagram for a minute or so and it was incredibly overwhelming.

I had to physically stop watching them because it was this huge rush that I couldn’t handle.

Which I did not expect.

It was kind of crazy how much it affected me.

But this whole experiment has made me think more and more about my phone/social media use.

I’ve even started considering switching to a dumbphone (just texting and calls, nothing else).

I’m working through the practical logistics of that now and trying to figure out if I could function without things like Whatsapp, Google Maps, or a 2FA app…

Or maybe I could just remove all the apps from my Iphone?

Who knows…

Either way I’m seeing a lot of benefits from cutting back on IG use, so I think cutting back on the overall phone use would be helpful too.

Alright let’s hop to the second thing on my mind this morning…

2. At some point you have to “take the leap” and go after what you want in life

Joe Rogan had a great conversation on his podcast last week with Tom Segura (another comedian) about “taking the leap” in your career.

Basically they were talking about how they knew so many comics who were good at comedy, but who never “took the leap” in their career.

So these guys just stayed where they were as local comics…

Or they held onto their real job, while doing comedy on the side…

But other people (like their friend Bert Kreischer) took the leap.

Bert had a cushy job with a show on the Travel Channel, and everyone kept telling him he needed to go all-in on comedy and podcasting…

Most people would just stick with the cushy job that Bert had…

But Bert took the leap.

He quit his show on the Travel Channel and walked away from a big paycheck…

And as a result, he turned himself into one of the most famous comedians on the planet who’s now selling out entire arenas.

So he was rewarded for taking the leap.

Obviously taking the leap is a risky move.

Cause there’s a lot of people who take the leap and it doesn’t work out.

But if you want to get to a certain level in life…

You have to burn the boats that got you there and take the leap.

Alright lets hop to the third thing on my mind this morning…

3.  People are going to learn with the Ozempic craze that in life there is ALWAYS a trade off

Imagine if you could take a pill and lose 50 lbs…

No working out…

No dieting…

Would you be up for it?

Most people would.

Which seems to be exactly what’s happening with Ozempic these days.

Every celeb in Hollywood is on it…

Every model is using it…

I don’t know a ton about the mechanism that makes Ozempic work, but I do know that in life there’s ALWAYS a trade off.

You can’t just drop 50 lbs by taking a pill without there being collateral damage.

That ain’t the way the body works.

Cause there’s always a trade off.

Now that trade off might be a small one that you’re ok living with (like feeling tired)…

Or it might be a more serious one (like chronic diarrhea, nonstop nausea or potential kidney failure).

So you have to weigh if the trade off is worth it.

Either way…

In life there is ALWAYS a trade off.

There’s a trade off to Google being free (they track all your data and watch what you do)…

There’s a trade off to getting drunk and having the night of your life (you’ll probably feel like shit the next morning)…

There’s a trade off to having your own business (it’ll always be on your mind, and it’s almost impossible to not think about it)…

So there’s always a trade off.

Thing is, most people never see the trade offs.

They just see the “shiny” result that they want…

But if you want to have a leg-up on everyone else, start thinking about what the trade off is going to be.

Cause there will be a trade off.

And you’ll come out better in the end if you’re aware of that.

Make sense?

I hope so.

Cause that’s all I got for ya today.

Enjoy your Sunday.
