Every Sunday morning I like to write about 3 random things that are on my mind.

Sometimes these things are about business…

Sometimes they’re about life…

And other times, they’re just truly random.

So with that said…

Let’s jump into the first thing on my mind this morning…

1.  You can learn a lot about selling (and keeping people’s attention) by watching Mr. Beast’s Youtube videos

The other day I watched 5 or 6 of Mr. Beast’s videos, and very quickly realized that he is a master at keeping your attention.

In each video…

He hooks you with a good opening line…

He sets up the stakes for the video…

He consistently adds more drama and conflict to whatever the task is (this is the bulk of the video)…

He introduces new “twists & turns” that you’re not expecting (these keep you engaged so you don’t get bored)…

He layers in music and sound effects that amplify all of the drama.

It’s really a masterclass in getting someone to pay attention.

And I’d be willing to bet, 90% of what he does is applicable to VSL’s as well.

It’s all the same principles.

So if you’re writing VSL’s (or editing them), I’d highly suggest studying Mr. Beast.

Lots to learn from him…

Alright let’s hop to the second thing on my mind this morning…

2.  I’m pushing myself to get back to walking 10,000 steps a day (but it ain’t easy)

Whenever the weather gets a little colder, the number of steps I walk each day plummets.

Usually I’m in the 6000-8000 range…

But over the last few weeks as it’s gotten colder in Austin, I’m barely hitting 2000 a day.

Which is terrible.

So I’m pushing myself to get back to 10,000 a day.

And my plan for doing that is as follows…

– Walk for 35-40 minutes in the morning

– Walk for 35-40 minutes at night

Also, since cold weather seems to be a big hurdle for getting me to walk…

I ordered a mini treadmill that I’m gonna put in my spare room upstairs.

That way I can just pop on a TV show and walk inside when it’s cold.

So we’ll see how that goes.

My history of sticking to cardio workouts is not great.

But I think 10,000 steps a day is doable.

I’ll be sure to keep ya updated on the progress (and what kind of benefits I see along the way).

Alright let’s hop to the third thing on my mind this morning…

And this one is also weather related…

3.  I’ve been noticing I feel sadder and more rundown the last few weeks since the weather turned in Austin

I have no idea if I have SAD (seasonal affective disorder)…

Or if the grey skies just make me feel “blah”…

But ever since the weather turned here in Austin, I’ve been feeling down.

I’m not outside as much…

I’m not seeing friends as often…

I don’t feel motivated to workout.

I just feel “blah”.

And the more I think about it, the more I think it’s connected to the weather.

I feel better when I’m getting sun…

And when it’s warm out.

Luckily I’ll be in Mexico next week for a copy retreat I’m hosting, so I’ll get plenty of sun while I’m there.

So who knows…

If you feel similar when the weather gets colder/greyer, I’d love to hear what remedies help you.

Feel free to reply to this and share.

I’m all ears.

Alright, I need to wrap this up.

Hope you got a nugget or two from this.

Enjoy your Sunday,

– Justin
