With Halloween coming up, I have an entrepreneurial horror story for ya.

It’s about my best friend, Andrew.

And unlike me, Andrew is not an entrepreneur.

He’s an accountant.

During the time we lived together after college, Andrew was one of the up-and-coming accountants at Price Waterhouse Coopers.

And he was making great money for a guy just out of college.

Like $80k a year.

He was loving life.

But when we lived together, he started to realize that he didn’t want to keep working for someone else.

He wanted to do his own thing.

Especially after he saw all the freedom I had.

I’d wake up at 9, and write for a few hours.

Go to the gym.

Play with the dogs.

After seeing this day in and day out…

He realized that he wanted something similar.

He was sick of his 70-hour work weeks…

He was sick of getting panicked emails from his boss on a Saturday talking about a project that needed done before the end of the day.

It was wearin’ on him.

So we had numerous conversations about him starting a business.

I mentioned that he should start an info-product business around wrestling.

Cause he was a great wrestler in highschool.

And he loved the sport.

We also had a mutual friend who was a national champion wrestler at Ohio State who I said could be the face of it.

“You could do info products, videos, run high-end camps – there’s a million ways to monetize this” I said.

I even told him I’d help him with everything.

He didn’t even have to pay me.

Or give me a cut of the company…

I just wanted to see him do it.

Cause I knew he could.

And I knew long-term this business would make him a whole lot happier than he was as an accountant.

He knew it too.

However…

Andrew never started that business.

He toyed with the idea many times.

Usually when things got too overwhelming for him at work…

He’d bring it up again.

“You still think the wrestling business could work?” he’d ask

Each time it came up we’d do our usual routine.

We’d grill up some steaks, sit by our firepit and have an hour-long conversation about it.

He’d get hyped on the idea for a few days…

And then a week later he’d forget about it.

This happened over and over again.

The worst part for me is that I KNOW he would have been successful had he done it.

He’d have a 6 or 7-figure business right now.

His wife would be happier.

He’d get to see his daughter more.

But he never did it.

And as his friend, I wish he would have.

I still think a part of him believes he’ll do it.

But I highly doubt that.

Cause now he has a wife, a daughter, and he’s making like $170k a year.

Those are golden handcuffs.

And that’s hard to leave.

And unless he’s REALLY motivated to do this in his spare time, it’s never gonna happen.

If you ask me that’s a real horror story.

Scarier than Jason or Scream.

Cause Andrew could have a much better life right now if he had just went for it.

And I don’t say that about everyone.

Most people are NOT meant to be entrepreneurs.

But when I see someone who is…

And they don’t give it a try…

That kills me.

Cause this is a damn fun way to make a living.

Anyways…

If you saw a lot of yourself in Andrew as you were reading this…

Hopefully his story will scare you straight.

And help you realize that your time is now.

Not ten years from now when you have more shit on your plate.

But right now.

That’s all I got for today…

Enjoy your Saturday.
