One of the best persuasion secrets I’ve ever learned came from my buddy Joe (who’s a dating coach).
Here’s the story…
Joe and I were out at a bar on Rainey Street a few years ago and we bumped into a couple girls we knew.
One of the girls, her and I had been chatting for a few weeks on Instagram…
However, it kind of stalled there.
We hadn’t been on a date…
Or hung out together…
So I wasn’t sure if it was going anywhere.
I could tell she was interested in me…
But it felt like there was a little hesitation on her part.
Like she was interested, but not enough to meet up with me.
However…
When we ran into her and her friend at the bar, Joe said something that completely changed that.
Basically after chatting for a bit, I excused myself and went to use the restroom.
And while I was gone, my buddy Joe pulled the girl aside that I was into and started talking me up.
He told her about how I went from a pretty meager upbringing in smalltown Ohio to building multiple 7-figure businesses on my own.
He told her about my passion for dogs (and helping dog rescues).
And how I’ve helped a bunch of my friends to leave their 9-5 jobs and start their own business.
And then right before I got back, he ended it with saying I’m one of the best dudes he knows, and that she’d be lucky to go out with me.
Now, I had no idea any of this was going on while I was standing in line for the bathroom…
But when I got back to the group, I could tell the vibe had completely switched.
Suddenly this girl wasn’t indifferent to me…
She was super into me…
She was playfully hitting me on the arm…
And laughing at things I said that weren’t even funny.
It was a complete 180.
And it all happened because of Joe talking me up
I mean I could have said those same things about myself…
But it wouldn’t have had the same effect as Joe saying it.
And there’s an important lesson in here…
Having someone else say good things about you is extremely powerful when it comes to persuasion.
It works in dating…
It works in copy…
