I’m gonna peel back the curtain and give you a little look inside how my brain works when I create my own offers.

Here’s the deal…

On Tuesday I mentioned that I canceled the offer I was planning to promote with Ning Li.

That offer was titled…

“How to create a homerun offer that brings in 300,000 buyers”

Leading up to that promo everything about the offer just felt off to me…

The positioning felt wrong…

And the mechanism felt confusing…

Nothing was easy…

It was all a jumbled mess.

So at the last minute, I decided to just scrap the offer.

We canceled the promo we were going to do this week for it.

And decided to go back to the drawing board.

Now the first step to coming up with a new offer was testing a couple ideas to my list and seeing what people were interested in.

So on Tuesday I sent a survey out with a couple ideas I had.

In my opinion, most surveys are usually crap.

But the way I do them (a method I learned from Brian Kurtz) works insanely well.

Instead of asking people open ended questions about what they want…

I simply present options for topics I could teach you in a course.

So in my survey, I presented six options…

– how to get your first 100 customers in the next 30 days

– how to make the leap from copywriter to offer owner

– how to build a massive email list with low-priced, “pocket change” offers

– how to create a $10 million dollar offer

– advanced sales page secrets

– how to get an extra $1000, $2000 or $10,000 a month in royalty and performance bonuses as a copywriter

So I put all six of those options in a survey…

And when I sent it out, 260+ people responded to the survey.

And based on those responses, there was one clear cut winner.

And that was…

How to build a massive email list with low-priced, “pocket change” offers

This was not surprising to me.

I know anything around email and list building does well to my list.

But what’s funny is that the content on this offer is like 70% the same as the previous offer we were going to teach.

This one just has much better positioning on it.

The new offer is more unique with the mechanism being the low-priced “pocket change” offers.

And then we added a big benefit to the new offer that the old one was lacking (building a massive email list).

So with those two simple changes…

We now have a MUCH stronger offer.

And I have a feeling most of the people on my list (and Ning’s list) will probably snap this baby up when we release it next week.

So the big take away here is just how important the positioning is on an offer.

Our new positioning taps into what my list wants…

And it does it in a new, unique way (with the “pocket change” offers).

So that’s the angle we’re gonna go with.

And I think it’ll do really well.

Anyways…

Wanted to share this with you so you could get a glimpse into how I think about offers and positioning.

I’ll have more details for ya next week on the “pocket change” offer training Ning and I are doing…

So keep your eyes peeled for that…

And enjoy your Thursday.
