There’s a lot you can learn about why people buy stuff, simply by watching how YOU’RE buying stuff during the corona panic.

For example…

Last Friday I realized that it was only a matter of time before my gym was shut down.

Bars were closing…

Restaurants were closing…

I knew gyms were next.

Now a lot of people are fine with just doing pushups in their living room.

But I didn’t want to do that.

I wanted to keep going with my strength training program.

So what did I do?

I got on Fringe Sport (similar to Rogue Fitness if you’re familiar with them), and wound up dropping like $2,000 on a gym setup for my garage.

I bought a squat rack, trap bar, bumper plates,  pull up bar, dumbbells and a few other things.

It’s not everything I need…

But it’s 90% of it.

And now I have my own gym in my garage.

What’s funny is that I’ve wanted my own gym for a while.

But I never pulled the trigger.

Why?

Because the “pain point” simply wasn’t big enough.

Sure my gym is a pain to get to during rush hour traffic…

And when I’m there, there’s always a bozo using the squat rack to do bicep curls…

But that’s a minor inconveinence.

It’s not a big, throbbing pain point.

So I never pulled the trigger on getting my own gym.

However my gym closing down, and me not having a gym to go to is a big throbbing pain point.

That’s what pushed me over the edge to spend $2000 on a home gym.

And I know I’m not the only one.

When I picked up my order at Fringe, there was a line that was 20 people deep.

The lady at the desk said they sold out of pretty much all their inventory in 2 days.

So not having a gym was a real pain point for others as well.

But that just goes to show you that the bigger the pain point, the more likely someone is to act.

Most guys won’t go to therapy if they think their relationship is in a rough patch…

But if their wife packs her bags and moves into a new apartment, now the pain point is real.

What was a small problem, just became a big problem…

And this goes for damn near anything you sell.

The more you can tie your product or your offer to a big throbbing pain point, the better it will sell.

That’s all I got for ya today.

Enjoy your Friday.
