One of the golden rules of copy is that most of your copy should be focused on what your prospect is feeling RIGHT NOW.

For example…

If I was selling something in the biz opp niche, my main focus would NOT be on the course I’m selling…

It would be on how the person I’m trying to sell to is feeling right now.

So in the copy, I’d tap into things like…

– the annoying bumper-to-bumper traffic they have to endure for 45 minutes on their way to work

– the boss they have (who’s an idiot) and doesn’t appreciate their talents

– the disgust they feel when their alarm clock goes off at 6:30 in the morning

– the shame they feel for not being able to provide the life they want for their kids/family

– feeling like they have no control over their life (i.e. their work schedule and how much money they make are just determined for them)

– The feeling that they work hard, yet they get the short end of the stick when it comes to money

– missing out on all the fun things their friends with more money are able to do (vacations, NBA games etc…)

– the guilt of not being a good dad/mom because they’re always working and unable to make it to their kid’s baseball games, swim meets etc…

– the gut-wrenching fear they have that they won’t be able to support their family as the price of gas, groceries and rent continue to go up (highly relevant right now)

As you can see, this list is all about what they are FEELING right now.

It’s not about future problems…

And it’s not even about what I’m gonna promise them (how to make more moolah)…

Before I can tap into any of that…

I have to get in touch with what they are feeling right now.

Why?

Cause that’s what people care about.

They don’t care about something that might happen 10 years from now…

They’re just trying to get through the day TODAY.

Which is why things like an annoying alarm clock going off at 6:30 everyday resonates with them.

It’s on their mind.

It frustrates them.

And they’d like a way out of it if possible.

Point being…

Most people care a LOT more about getting OUT of their current situation than they care about whatever it is you’re selling.

So tap into that.

Show them that you understand their situation.

You empathize with them…

And know what it’s like…

And then show them a way out of that.

That’s the key.  

That’s a simple idea, but it’s one that can make you millions if you do it right.
