About a year ago I was speaking at my friend Ian Stanley’s event in Boise when something unexpected happened…
I walked into the room, and a blonde haired guy quickly pulled me aside because he wanted a picture.
So I gave a big smile, and we took a selfie together.
After the picture, the guy told me all about how he loved reading my emails each morning.
“Awesome, I’m glad they’re helping you” I replied.
I didn’t think anything of it when it happened…
But about three minutes later, the same thing happened again.
“Hey man, just wanted to say I love your emails. I read ’em everyday. Can I get a picture with you?”.
“Sure thing” I replied.
So I put my arm around him, and we snapped another selfie.
This happened a few more times throughout the day.
And probably 15-20 more times throughout the course of the weekend.
People would run up to me and ask for a picture…
Or they’d stop me in the hall to tell me how much they liked my emails.
I was not expecting to be a “celebrity” at this event, but that’s what happened.
I mean it was kind of surreal.
I felt like Brad Pitt.
Normally when I go to events, it’s my close friends that know who I am.
But ever since I got serious about my daily emails…
I’ve become a mini celebrity at marketing events.
And there’s a big lesson in that…
If you want to be a household name in your niche…
The easiest way to do it is to start sharing your life in personality-driven emails like I do.
