Nothing will make you hustle faster than learning that you’re going to have a kid to provide for in the near future.
Well this is exactly what happened to copywriter Jerrod Harlan.
A few years ago Jerrod made the decision to sell off his brick and mortar print shop.
He wanted to do something that gave him more freedom…
And gave him a chance to make more money.
Around this same time, he stumbled upon Dan Kennedy’s book “The Ultimate Sales Letter” when he was at Barnes & Nobles.
And this sparked an idea.
Jerrod was already good at face-to-face sales…
So he thought maybe he could put his sales skills into writing and make a living as a copywriter.
However there was one problem…
He had to make it happen fast.
Jerrod and his wife had just found out that they were expecting their first baby.
That meant he had about 8 months to figure this out.
“I didn’t want to be the kind of dad that sacrificed our security with me going off on some crazy journey to be a copywriter”
So Jerrod immediately got to work…
He bought courses on copywriting…
And even hired a mentor to help him get started.
However like a lot of copywriters in the first year, he struggled mightily.
“I felt like I had no idea what I was doing. I was crippled by the self doubt and the fear of failing so I was scared to take on a client”
After a few months of working on his copy everyday…
He started to really improve…
And gain a little bit of confidence.
And while this was HUGE for Jerrod, what he did after this was even more impressive.
Cause only 12 months after he started his copywriting journey, Jerrod was on pace to earn over $100k as a copywriter.
Which is incredible.
It takes most writers years to get to the $100k mark.
But Jerrod did it in just 12 months.
And that’s why I sat down with him this week to have him share his story on my Youtube channel.
