The other day Alex Hormozi posted a video on Instagram talking about his unusual work schedule.

Basically he said…

“I work all the time.  I have no hobbies besides working out.  I work all the time, that’s all I do”

Knowing Alex this is not surprising to me.

He’s the kind of guy that gets up at 4 AM to work…

And he lives and breathes business…

So this kind of schedule works well for him.

It’s obviously made him ridiculously rich…

And semi-famous.

So I doubt he would change a thing…

However…

I wanted to write about this because I see so many people falling into the trap of thinking that if they want to be successful, they HAVE to work 15 hours a day and have no life outside of their work.

And that’s simply not true.

I mean if you want to work 15 hours a day…

And have no hobbies…

Then by all means, do it.

Don’t let me stop you.

But I will tell you, living like that is NOT necessary if you want to make a lot of dough.

You can have balance…

You can work 4-5 hours a day, and still have plenty of free time to go to your kids soccer games…

Or to be outside in the sun..

Or to have dinner with friends…

My friend Mike Geary is probably the best example of someone who lives like this and still makes bank.

I don’t know exactly how much money Mike makes, but I’d guess he takes home over $10 million a year (before taxes).

And unlike most people making the kind of money that Mike makes, he’s not chained to his desk all day.

He’s out living life.

So in the winter that means he’s skiing 4 or 5 days a week…

Or he’s laying on a beach in Mexico…

Or he’s going for a 2-hour hike in the beautiful mountains of Utah…

Mike’s able to do all this, because working all day is NOT his identity.

His goal isn’t to work the most hours possible.

His goal is actually living his life.

Which is something I really admire.

And why I’ve been on a similar path over the last 8 months.

I’ve cut my hours way back…

And pushed myself to only focus on the things in my business that really move the needle (which are writing this daily email, and growing my email list).

And guess what?

I’m a hell of a lot happier, and more relaxed than I used to be.

And I’m making great money doing it.

So my point with all this is simple…

If you want to do the Alex Hormozi thing and make your entire life about work, then feel free to do that.

But just be aware that’s NOT the only way to get rich.

There are other ways.

You can setup your business or your freelancing career so that you have a life and still make a boatload of money.

That option is there for you.

It all boils down to you actually peeling yourself away from your desk…

And prioritizing the non-work things in your life.

That’s my 2 cents on it.
