Last night, Jesse Cannone and I met up at Perry’s steakhouse for a little bro time.

If you don’t know Jesse, he runs a super successful company in the back pain niche.

And he’s been in the online marketing game since the late 90’s.

We’ve been texting back-and-forth, trying to catch-up for months…

And last night our schedules finally aligned.

So we decided to chow down on some steaks.

Which I’m always down for.

We kicked-off the night with a sampler of the A5 Japanese Wagyu ribeye.

I had never had it before.

But the server did a good job of selling it to us as an appetizer.

“It’s a 2 oz piece that’s $35 – it’s the most buttery soft, flavorful piece of meat you can get.   Shipped over here directly from Japan”

I was sold right away.

“Let’s do it” I said.

And I’m glad we did.

Cause it was heaven.  The crust on it had a nice, crisp saltiness to it.  And the steak was loaded with fat that just melted in your mouth.

I don’t think I could have eaten a full wagyu steak…

But the 2 oz piece was perfect.

After we finished that off, the main courses came out…

That meant more steak for both of us.

I got the 22 oz cowboy ribeye, medium rare.

Jesse got the same, medium.

And again, the steak was to die for.

Just loaded with fatty goodness…

And more flavor than you could imagine.

As we chowed down on our steaks, Jesse and I were shooting-the-shit.

And we dove deep into a myriad of topics.

We talked about dating in Austin…

Woo-woo emotional release stuff…

David Deida seminars…

Why I need a pre-nup…

What we do to sleep better…

How we’re decorating our new houses…

Our convo was all over the map.

And I loved every minute of it.

Jesse is one of those dudes who is in to a LOT of stuff.

So he can talk about anything.

And by the end of dinner, it dawned on me that I couldn’t have this conversation with most people.

Why?

Cause most people are simply focused on surface level stuff.

They talk about the weather.

Or the pot-luck they’re going to on Friday.

However…

Most of my friends who are successful aren’t like this.

They’re naturally curious.

And they’re into a lot of different stuff.

They’ll read books on the human brain for fun…

…or rebuild motorcycles in their spare time

…or they do stand-up comedy.

Those are all things that someone who has a curious mind gets into.

And I’m a big believer that simply being curious about a lot of things is a major driver of success.

I see it in a lot of the entrepreneurs I know.

I see it in the best copywriters I know.

They’re simply curious people.

And that’s not a “skill” that gets talked about a lot.

People always talk about focus…

And drive…

All of that is obviously important.

But so is being curious.

Cause being curious is what gives you new ideas.

It takes you down rabbit holes you didn’t know existed.

So if you take just one thing away from this email…

It’s that you should be curious.

Most of the successful people I know are very curious.

They’re fascinated by stuff…

So they always want to know more…

I’d suggest doing the same…

That’s all I got for today.

Enjoy your Tuesday,

– Justin
