Probably my biggest goal for 2020 was to work LESS and to get out of the house more.

Why?

Because I have a tendency to work all the time.

And to ONLY focus on work.

So back in January, I started pushing myself to be done with work by 5 PM.

And to make more time to go out to dinner with friends…

And go on more dates.

And frankly, I was doing a good job at it.

I was being a lot more social.

But then the pandemic hit…

Which changed everything.

And since I’ve been at home a lot more than usual, I naturally started working more.

Which bothered me at first.

Cause my goal was to stop working so much.

So I was beating myself up for it.

I felt guilty for working so much.

However, eventually I had a little bit of an epiphany.

I realized that instead of feeling guilty…

Or fighting with myself…

I should just accept that my situation had changed.

And be “okay” with working more than usual.

Cause the reality is, there’s not much for me to do right now.

I can’t go to dinner with friends.

I’m not meeting people at a bar on the weekend.

Sure, I’m still going to the park and hanging with friends (socially distanced of course)…

But there’s just not a lot going on.

So this is a good time for me to focus on work.

And to make a lot of headway on the 2 new projects I have planned.

So that’s what I’m doing.

I’m ok with working 10 hours a day during this…

Or working on a Saturday like I am today…

Cause my time isn’t really going to be spent doing anything better.

And I know I’m not alone in having this problem.

Cause I’ve heard similar stories from friends.

Basically they were working all day, everyday and started to feel guilty about it.

If that’s you, maybe you try what I’m doing.

Maybe you stop fighting it…

And stop feeling guilty about it…

And just embrace going “all in” on work for a few weeks.

This is certainly not a long term plan for me.

But when situations change…

You have to change as well.

So I’m embracing that change.

And just going along with it.

Anyways…

That’s my 2 cents.

Enjoy your Saturday.
