Over the next few days, I’m gonna write a little series on some of the biggest things I learned in 2021.
Some of these things will be about copy…
Some will be about money…
And others will be about life in general…
So with that said…
Let’s jump into the first big thing I learned in 2021.
Here it is…
The best investment you can make is in learning skills that will make you more money
This was technically not a “new” learning for me.
It was something I already knew.
However…
In 2021 it became crystal clear to me.
And here’s why…
Last December, I decided to finally invest some of my money into crypto.
I had been thinking about for nearly a year…
So after a bunch of research, I came to the conclusion that it would be smart to put a small portion of my portfolio into crypto (about 5-7% at the time).
I was confused on how to actually buy the coins, so I wound up buying a crypto course from Mike Dillard that explained everything.
I followed Mike’s advice to a “t”.
I bought mostly Bitcoin and Ethereum.
And then picked up a few altcoins like Chainlink, Cardano, Polkadot and Solana.
Overall this has had a big ROI for me.
And as of this morning, my crypto investments are up about $590k on the year.
Which I’m loving…
But more than that…
It just reinforces the idea that investing in new skills that will make you more money is the best investment you can make.
A year ago, I didn’t know anything about investing in crypto.
So I paid someone (Mike) to teach me about it.
And that new skill has paid off handsomely.
And you can do the same no matter what level you’re at…
I see this every single day with copywriters…
I watched Krista Edsall go from a bartender making $50k a year to a copywriter making over $120k a year.
I watched Scott Connorton go from barely making $10k in his first year as a copywriter, to now being on pace for a $140k year.
I watched Troy Ericson go from a copywriter making $5k a month to a business owner who’s now pulling in $100k a month.
This wasn’t magic…
Or luck…
They simply invested in their own copy and marketing skills.
And because of that…
They were able to significantly increase their income.
Which illustrates my point…
The money they invested in those skills had a massive ROI.
Much bigger than if they had put it in the stock market, or bonds (or even crypto).
Because now they have a REAL skill that will produce a high income year-in and year-out.
As my old mentor, Shoemoney, used to say…
“Skills pay the bills”
And he was 100% right.
The best thing you can do for yourself is to invest in your money-making skills (like copywriting, media buying, scaling etc…)
This is such a simple concept…
But it’s one that took me 16+ years to really grasp.
And it became crystal clear to me in 2021.
So that’s one of my big takeaways from this year.
Do with that info what you wish…
But I hope you take it to heart.
Cause it has the potential to change your life.
