A reader named Antonio writes in asking if I worry about pissing people off during a launch by “sending too many emails”…

——-

Hey Justin, big fan and really enjoying your insights on the launch.

One question I have… do you ever get complaints from sending so many emails during a launch?  From what I remember you sent 2 emails a day, and then 3-4 emails on the last day.

Does sending this many emails piss your readers off?  Won’t they unsubscribe?

———

Alright Antonio, take a seat cause papa Goff is about to drop some wisdom on you.

Here’s the deal…

There’s a big difference between sending a boring sales email versus sending an entertaining story that also has a pitch at the end.

These are two VERY different things.

For example…

If I sent you an email everyday that said…

“Hey Antonio, I’m having a sale this week on my email copy course at the link below. Go check it out”

You would eventually get sick of seeing that email.

And you’d either mark it as “spam”…

Or you’d unsubscribe.

Now compare that to the emails I send during a launch, and you’ll see these are very different.

Why?

Because my emails usually tell interesting stories.

So they’re engaging…

And my goal is for you to get value out of the email whether you buy something from me or not.

That’s really important.

Especially if you’re playing the “long game” (like I am).

You want people looking forward to your emails…

You want them opening them simply because it’s YOU sending it.

And that won’t happen if you just bash ’em over the head multiple times a day with a run-of-the-mill sales email.

That’s the truth.

So to sum up my thoughts…

No, I’m not worried about pissing people off by sending “too many emails”.

Cause the emails I send are good.

And people enjoy reading them (even if they don’t buy anything).

Basically it’s more about WHAT you say in your emails, and NOT how many emails you send…

Make sense?

I hope so.

Cause thats all I got for ya today.

Enjoy your Thursday,

– Justin

Note: I’ll be in Mexico next week for a copywriting retreat I’m hosting with Dan Ferrari.

While I’m there, I most likely will take about ~10 days off from writing my daily emails so that I can enjoy the retreat and be fully present.

So if you don’t see any emails from me over the next few weeks, that’s why.
