I’m gonna answer a few questions from readers this week.

The first one is from a guy who hasn’t been able to get his offer to convert for 4+ years, and he’s looking for some advice.

—–

So, I’ve been cranking away at this online offer game for the last 4 years now…And still have yet to make any money, lol. But, i had a serious epiphany a little while ago…You see, over the years i’ve gotten pretty damn good at ads. I’ve gotten clicks for as low as 20¢.But, my vsl’s and webinars have yet to convert. My recent epifany showed me that most of the time, successful offers are brought to market by ‘teams’ (unless your born a savant like you, Ian Stanley or Frank kern). So my question is, if you’re a non-marketing genius…how would one go about finding the right team? For myself, I’m super sure that if i partnered with someone who is kick-azz in vsl/closing copy—life would change pretty quickly for my family and i.Or find someone i could hire to critique my vsl’s at an affordable rate. Someone once recommended Dan Ferrari to me at 10k. (I’ve barely got 1k these days)A point in the right direction would be highly appreciated——

So there’s a lot to unpack here…

First, kudos to you on getting started and keeping at it for four years.

That’s dedication.

The biggest issue that I see here is that you simply don’t have the skills to have your own offer.

Everyone I know that has a successful offer is good at either copywriting or media buying before they start their own offer.

So they do that for a few years…

They learn what works (and what doesn’t work)…

And then eventually they create their own offer.

Judging from your email, it seems you skipped that step.

You don’t have one of those two skills (copywriting or media buying).

So the reality is that even if you hired someone good to critique your copy, you probably wouldn’t know how to run the other parts of the business.

Which is why I’m saying you’re not ready.

I know that’s not what you want to hear…

But I think it’s the truth.

When I launched my first offer, I had been doing this whole IM thing for nearly 6 years.

I had written copy for clients…

I knew how to run Facebook ads…

So I was pretty skilled in the areas you need to be good at to grow a business.

My old partner, Allen Baler, has a similar story…

He worked in a direct marketing company for like 10 years…

And then did traffic for affiliate offers on his own, and made 7-figures doing that.

It was only after he did all of that, that he started his own offer in the survival niche (which turned out to be very successful).

The odds of you being able to create a successful offer when you’re not great at copy or media buying is pretty low.

So my suggestion would be to focus on that.

Get in the trenches…

Write copy for clients…

Learn what works, and what doesn’t work when it comes to copy, VSL’s, stories etc…

And once you have that…

Then you can go after your own offer.

You can’t put the cart before the horse.

You gotta have the skills to build a company before you can actually build the company.

Like I said, I know thats probably not the answer you want to hear…

But, I think it’s the answer you need to hear.

So that’s why I’m telling you it…

Make sense?

I hope so…

Cause that’s all I got for ya today.

I’ll be back tomorrow answering another one of the questions that was sent in.

Enjoy your Wednesday.
