I’ve been sitting here for nearly 30 minutes trying to figure out what I’m gonna write about, and nothing is coming to my mind.

So I’m just gonna free-flow things…

And write about what I’m thinking…

1.  Keep the horse focused on the race

If you’re a badass entrepreneur, or an awesome copywriter, your focus should be on your business (or on the copy you’re writing).

It shouldn’t be on things like mowing your lawn, doing your taxes or cleaning the house.

This is where the idea of “let the horse focus on the race” comes from.

If you have a horse that can win the Kentucky Derby, you shouldn’t be distracting him other shit.

Just focus on the Derby.

And same goes for you.

The more you can keep your focus on the things that produce results, the better you’ll do.

Alright, next thing on my mind…

2.  Stop hoping someone is going to mentor you for free

This is a question I get asked all the time…

“I don’t have any money, how do I get someone to mentor me and give me feedback on my copy (for free)?”

The short answer is it’s not gonna happen.

The odds of someone who’s good at copy wanting to mentor you for free is slim to none.

And when I tell people this, they look at me like their life is over.

Like there’s no other hope of getting a mentor.

Which is crazy…

The reality of having a copy mentor (or a business mentor) is that you have to pay for it.

“But I don’t have any money!” they respond.

Well if you were going to get married…

Or you were gonna put a down payment on a house…

How would you pay for that?

You’d save up.

You’d work side gigs…

You might even have multiple jobs…

And when you have the money,  you’d do it.

Same thing goes with mentorship.

If you REALLY want a mentor…

Then do everything in your power to save your money and make it happen.

That’s what it takes.

Alright let’s do one more of these…

3.  Why have I never had a discussion with a GOOD copywriter about AI making copywriters obsolete?

This is interesting…

Every question I’ve ever gotten about AI has come from either someone who has never written copy before…

Or from someone who is relatively new to copy.

I’ve yet to have a discussion about AI making copywriters obsolete w/ someone like Stefan Georgi, David Deutsch, Carline Anglade Cole etc…

And there’s good reason for that…

Most people who are GOOD at writing copy understand how nuanced good copy is.

And the odds of AI being able to do that anytime soon is not great.

Furthermore…

Most of us would actually love it if AI could write as well as us.

Seriously.

If AI could pump out a sales letter thats on the level of a Stefan Georgi or a Craig Clemens, I would LOVE that.

Why?

Cause I could just put out winning offers nonstop.

I’d be making millions a month.

And it would be the greatest thing ever.

So even if AI somehow gets insanely good at copywriting…

I’m not worried about it.

Cause it would actually be the greatest thing ever for marketers.

So there ya go…

Those are few of the thoughts rolling around my mind this morning.

I’m gonna wrap this up and head out for a walk.

Enjoy your Friday,

– Justin
