A great question came in yesterday from Jason P. after I sent out the survey asking what kind of content you’d like to see from me…

——

I’ve heard from other marketers that surveys are worthless because most customers lie or they don’t know what they want. What do you think of this theory?

——-

I’d say there’s a lot of truth to that.

If you simply talk to your buyers and ask them “what do you want” they usually can’t tell you.

They might be able to tell you what they DON’T like (which is helpful).

But they usually can’t tell you what they want…

However…

The way I use surveys works a lot better.

I don’t ask an open-ended “what do you want” kind of question.

I come up with ideas that I think will appeal to my readers, and then present them to them.

For example…

Yesterday in my survey, I presented 5 different topics I thought you might be interested in…

– How to be a direct response millionaire

– A breakdown of a 1000 buyer a day offer

– How to go from 0->100 sales a day

– My money/freedom/happiness blueprint

– Things they don’t tell you about how to make 7-figures a year

I know from past experience that these are all topics you’re probably interested in.

So I put them in a survey for you to vote on.

And here were the results of the survey…

91% – how to go from 0->100 sales a day

84% – behind the scenes of a 1000 buyer a day offer

82% – how to be a direct response millionaire

81% – thing they never tell you about making 7 figures

66% – my money/freedom/happiness blueprint

Now here’s what’s interesting about this…

I knew the 0->100 sales a day one would be the most popular.

Ive used it in surveys before, and people really want to see it.

However…

I’m not going to pick that one for a few reasons.

1.  I don’t feel that passionate about it.  And I don’t want to write a big PDF about something that I’m not that into

2.  This 0->100 buyers a day topic will attract a lot of newbies who want to create their first offer.  That’s not the market I want to attract.  I want more established offer owners and copywriters.

So for those reasons, I’m not gonna pick that topic.

Most likely I’ll write about how to be a direct response millionaire.

That’s something I enjoy writing about.

I’ll share my story of how I did it (what I did right, and what I did wrong).

I’ll show you other case studies of people who have done the same.

Basically give you the “playbook” to becoming a DR millionaire.

So I’ll prolly get working on that soon.

But back to my original point…

Most buyers won’t know what they want if you just ask them “what do you want?”…

But if you present them real ideas…

They’ll be able to tell you what they like (and what they don’t like).

This method has never failed me.

So I highly suggest trying it before you create your next offer.

Don’t fly blind.

Figure out what your readers want, and give it to them.

Make sense?

I hope so.

Cause that’s all I got for today.

Enjoy your Thursday.
