If I could only give one piece of advice to new copywriters, here’s what it would be…
“Stop trying to figure this out on your own, and learn from someone who’s already done it.“
And here’s why I say that…
Back when I got started with copy in 2009 or so, I didn’t have veteran copywriters to learn from.
Sure there were copywriters out there who had been killing it for years like Clayton, Deutsch, Carline and the like…
But I didn’t know them.
And there weren’t big copywriting groups on Facebook, or Zoom calls back then…
So I was kinda stuck learning on my own.
And guess what?
It took me a LONG time to figure things out.
I had no idea how to deal with clients.
I wasn’t sure what to charge…
And my copy was just kinda strown together with no framework behind it.
This is why it took me many, many years to hit the 6-figure mark.
And it’s why I struggled early on.
I didn’t have a roadmap…
Or a successful copywriter showing me the ropes.
I was like a lone wolf in the woods trying to navigate everything on my own.
Which brings me to the point I want to make.
If I knew back then what I know now…
I would have found a successful copywriter and soaked up every drop of their wisdom.
I would have followed their exact playbook…
And in the end…
I would have hit the $50k or $100k mark as a copywriter a lot faster.
Anyways…
Now-a-days, I understand how important it is to have a successful copywriter showing you what to do (and what not to do)…
