In business (and in dating), a “warm intro” works a hell of a lot better than a cold approach when it comes to landing clients or making deals…

Case in point…

Last summer I hosted a cocktail party at my house for 20 entrepreneurs and creators.

So I sent out invites to people like Chandler Bolt, John Romaniello, Amanda Bucci, Neville Medhora, Justin Donaldson and a bunch of other people I know in Austin.

Pretty much everyone I invited said “yes”…

But there was one person I wanted to come that I didn’t know.

It was a woman that had just moved to Austin (let’s call her “Jen”).

I had been following Jen on Instagram for a few months…

She seemed cool and like she was my type.

So I wanted to meet her…

I mulled over the best way to do this…

I debated sending her a message on Instagram and hoping that she saw it…

That may have worked…

But it was a longshot.

So I decided to go a different route…

I scanned through all the people that were already coming to the party and figured out people ones were friends with her.

Turned out one of the women coming was close friends with her.

So I shot her a message and said “hey we have room for one more person, if you want to invite Jen, I’d love to meet her and introduce her to some other people in Austin”.

That worked like a charm…

Cause Jen instantly said “yes” to her.

And a few days later when the party came, Jen enthusiastically walked in and said “hi” and thanked me for inviting her.

Her and I hit it off right away…

And we ended up talking for like 30 minutes (which was a lot considering I was hosting the party and trying to mingle with everyone).

So in the end, the “warm intro” approach worked perfectly.

Now you may not be hosting a cocktail party anytime soon…

But I’m sharing this story with you for a few reasons…

1.  If you’re in the dating market, getting a warm intro like this is 100x better than a cold approach (cause you’re pre-vetted by someone they trust)

2. You can easily steal this same tactic and use it in your business to land clients, get affiliates, and even get booked on big podcasts

I’ll give ya an example…

Later this summer once I have my new lead magnet setup, I’m gonna put some real effort into getting on well known podcasts.

But here’s the problem…

Most of the podcasts I want to get on, I don’t know the guys who run them.

I’ve never met them…

And odds are, they probably don’t know who I am either…

However…

I do know people that know those guys.

And some of the people I know have already been on those podcasts as guests.

So my strategy will be to lean into that…

That way I’ll get a “warm intro” to the podcast host.

They could obviously still say “no” and not have me on…

But with a warm intro from someone they already know and trust, my odds of getting on are 10x what they are if I try to message them myself.

Point being…

The “warm intro” is always better than a cold approach.

You can use that warm intro to get on podcasts…

You can use it to land more affiliates…

And you can use it to land copywriting clients…

Cause if you come pre-vetted by someone they like, your odds of getting a deal done are exponentially higher.

That’s a simple idea…

But it’s one that always gives you a leg up.

So I suggest you use it…

Alright that’s all I got for ya today.

Hope you got a nugget or two from this…

Enjoy your Wednesday,
