Since I went all-in on creating courses last year, one of my main focuses in my business has been “playing the long game”.

That means whenever I make a decision…

I try to make it with the “long game” in mind.

Why?

Because I don’t just want people to buy from me just one time…

I want them to buy from me today…

And tomorrow…

And three years from now.

So I try to make every decision with that in mind.

For example…

– When I put a deadline on my launches, and I don’t let anyone in after the deadline, that is a long game decision.  Sure I could make more money in the short term if I let people in after the deadline, but I’m after the long term trust of the people on my list

– When I ran my Black Friday bundle, I ended up hooking up my best buyers and they got everything for free.  So they got a free ticket to the Email Experts event plus the recordings without paying anything.  I could have easily charged them a few hundred bucks for this, but again, this was a long game decision of “wowing” my best supporters

– When I promote other people’s courses as an affiliate, I spend a lot of time going through their course, and using it myself.  I also talk to people who have used the course themselves and get their opinions on it.  I’m not gonna promote something just because it’ll make me a bunch of money.  Again, I could make a lot more money in the short term promoting iffy offers, but my goal is to promote things my list loves, that way they trust me over the long term.

I could go on and on with this…

But my point is simple…

If you want to be in business for years and years…

You need to make decisions with the “long game” in mind.

This is not something that comes naturally to most people.

I know it didn’t for me.

When I was in my 20’s, I made pretty much every decision in my business based on how much money it was going to make me NOW.

I didn’t think about the long game…

Or how it affected people’s trust with me…

I was all about “money now”.

Which isn’t a smart play.

You always want to be playing the “long game” with your decisions.

That’s how you build trust…

And how you thrive for 5, 10 or even 20 years (while most people fade away after a year or two).

It’s all about the “long game” thinking.

So keep that in mind.
