My email from yesterday on confronting the “uncomfortable truths” about your buyers sparked a lot of questions, so I’m gonna expand on it today.

Here’s a good story that will help explain…

A few years back, a friend of mine who has offers in the men’s dating niche started regularly holding Zoom calls with his buyers.

So he’d sit down and talk to one of his buyers for 20 minutes…

He’d ask about their dating life…

What they were struggling with…

And he’d dig deep with them to figure out what they were REALLY looking for.

Well after about 20 of these calls, there was one thing that kept coming up over and over again.

Most of the guys he was coaching were dudes in their 50’s that were recently divorced… yet they wanted to date women that were 19 or 20 years old. 

Which caught my friend by surprise.

And made him a little uncomfortable.

Why?

Well because at the time, he had a daughter that was 19.

And the thought of her dating a 55 year old man didn’t sit well with him. 

He knew there was nothing legally wrong with a 19 year-old dating a guy in his 50’s…

But overall it made him a little uncomfortable.

So after discovering this, he asked what my thoughts on it were… 

And I told him very simply…

“You have to be realistic about who your buyers are.  You can’t pretend they’re someone they’re not.  This is who they are, and what they want”

And like I mentioned yesterday this kind of thing goes on in EVERY niche.

In biz opp you have to be ok with the fact that most of the people that buy from you don’t care about getting results, they just want to “feel” like they’re on the right path.

In financial, you have to be ok with the fact that a lot of people will toss their life savings into your crypto or stock picks (even if you repeatedly warn them not to)…

These are the “uncomfortable truths” of human nature.

They’re not always pretty.

But as a marketer, you do need to understand them.

Pretending they don’t exist isn’t a winning strategy.

You need clear and accurate thinking about who your buyer REALLY is.
